Hi everyone,
I'm a brand-new editor just getting my freelance career going after getting my UCSD copyediting certificate in March (and I just joined this group). Right now I have a quick request for a small graduate research project for a class I'm taking.
Our topic is timely: how freelance line editors and copyeditors utilize AI tools in their daily editing workflows.
Our focus is on understanding real-world experiences with AI tools. We are looking for someone who uses AI editing tools and has consciously thought about the systems they use. Your feelings about AI can be anything (we're not just looking for AI evangelists)
We had our three volunteers, but one had to bail, so now we need to fill that slot quickly. Please help if you can!
Who we are looking for:
- Freelance line editors or copyeditors.
- Anyone who uses AI tools in their process-either by personal choice or by publisher mandate.
- Note: This applies to any level of technology, ranging from Microsoft Word's built-in grammar and spelling checkers to specialized editing software and Large Language Models (LLMs), but we prefer use of tools more than Word's.
Study Details & Privacy:
- Format: A casual semi-structured interview with one researcher no longer than an hour. Because we lost our volunteer, this is relatively short notice, as we need the interview done by middle/late next week. The researcher ho needs an interviewee is in Eastern US time. He's available all day Sunday and after 6pm during the week next week.
- Confidentiality: Your data and identity will be fully anonymized from the very beginning of the project to ensure total privacy.
