When I research current titles on bookstore websites, finding books written by authors from non-traditional websites is quite difficult. Some authors are even in a wrong one! I read a discussion on socials where authors themselves complained how poorly visible are their titles in shops to the point where they decided to physically move the copies to the correct place. Just fancy that.

As an author, I have seen how this works for and against me. I think they should be in a separate category only if they are also categorized in other ways. If the goal is discoverability, books should be categorized as many ways as relevant to reach ideal readers.
