    An article in the journal Nature reports:

    "Across three studies spanning seven datasets in different domains and over 880,000 texts, we show that the widespread adoption of large language models (LLMs) as writing assistants is linked to declines in linguistic diversity, interfering with the societal and psychological insights language provides."

    Thank you, Katharine. I think we already knew this, but it's good (and worrisome) to see it scientifically proven.

    I'm not surprised by this. That's kind of the point behind the training of neural networks and fuzzy logics: to ultimately create consistent output for a known set of inputs. In the case of the LLMs, the ultimate goal of the training would be to create consistency in tone and verbiage... and to ultimately stop the evolution of the written form for the sake of consistency. So, yep, linguistic diversity would always be on the decline with the LLMs.

    Just another reason to encourage human-generated works.
