The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter connects editorial professionals from across Northern California and beyond through opportunities for professional development, networking, and shared support. We welcome both current EFA members and guests, as well as those outside our geographic region.  We host regular events (mostly on Zoom, but we try to gather in person at least once a year), share resources and updates in a monthly newsletter, and help members get the most of their EFA membership benefits.   

Our current chapter coordinator is Caitlan Cole and our newsletter producer is Simone Zapata. We're looking to expand our team, so if you're interested in sharing your time and talents to help us plan events and build local engagement, please get in touch with Caitlan at caitlanc16@gmail.com.

Join Our Chapter 

If you're an EFA member:

• Please log in to the EFA membership platform at community.the-efa.org. In the top navigation bar, go to "Chapters & Groups," then "Regional Chapters," and "San Francisco Bay Area." Click "Join group" in the upper right corner. 

• You also can join from your dashboard. Click on the “My Chapters & Groups” menu item and you will see the groups you've already joined on the left side of the page. Under "Available Groups" on the right, expand the list by clicking "View All," then select "Regional Chapters: San Francisco Bay Area."
  

If you're not yet an EFA member:

• Create a free guest account here (scroll down to the “Guest” option at the bottom of the page) to follow our chapter news and events, or become a member to unlock full access to EFA’s community, education programs, and job list. 

Stay in Touch  

As part of the EFA’s effort to streamline communications and strengthen our nationwide community, all chapter updates and announcements will now be delivered through this membership platform. Stay in the loop with emails about chapter updates and events by following these steps: 

• Go to Information & Settings under your profile.In the Preferences tab, scroll first to the "Groups" category, and click the box next to "Email me when an event is added to a group of which I am a member." 
• Then scroll to the bottom. Click the box to subscribe to the Forum Digest newsletter. 
• Click "Save My Settings." 
  
   

Please note our chapter email address (chap_sfbay@the-efa.org) is no longer functional, and we are not using Mailchimp for our chapter newsletters going forward.
