When I was given a manual typewriter at the age of 10, I discovered my love for words and imagined my future as a novelist. However, I soon abandoned my word-loving ways for steady work in finance and earned a bachelor's in business management with a minor in accounting. Several years ago, I returned to my Word Nerd calling by becoming a freelance copy editor, proofreader, and creator of back-of-the-book and embedded (hyperlinked) indexes. Since then, I've completed many courses, including the specialized copyediting program at UCSD and UC Berkeley’s Indexing Theory and Application.
As a lifelong Southern California resident, I’m familiar with common United States customs and Latino culture.
For the last couple of years, I've been ASI's indexer training course administrator. I have served as treasurer of SD/Pen, been an elected member of the EFA Board of Governors, and have judged ACES headline contests. When not working, I enjoy time with my family, walking my rescue dogs, and being a volunteer Bible teacher.
I do not edit/index horror, religious, supernatural, erotic, or political material, nor do I review books for my clients.
