Kelly Vincent

Editor and Ghostwriter

Bio

I'm an empathetic editor who can help you turn your story into the best it can be—while keeping it 100% your story. I’m also a ghostwriter who can take your idea and turn it into a compelling book your audience will love. I love working with indie authors and can provide advice and some services beyond editing for those self-publishing.

I offer a range of editing services related to fiction, tech books, popular nonfiction, and academic writing. Before becoming an editor, I wrote several award-winning YA and romance books and a book on data science for Apress. I absolutely love a story, whether it's fiction, narrative nonfiction, an essay, a technical deep dive, a book proposal, or an academic research paper, so editing felt like a natural sequel to all that writing. I'm also a working data scientist and a student in the Doctor of Technology program at Purdue University.

I offer a variety of services, including developmental editing, line editing, copyediting, beta reading, authenticity reading (on topics relating to large bodies, mental health challenges, and LGBTQ+ (especially nonbinary life)), and more.

When I’m not editing, I’ll either be writing, have my nose in a book, or be doing chores while an audiobook plays.

My editing-related qualifications:

  • Specialization in Developmental Editing from the University of Washington
  • Certificate in Copyediting from the University of California, San Diego
  • Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Oklahoma City University
  • Certificate in Advanced Fiction Writing from the University of Washington
