You probably didn’t become a freelance editor because you love the financial side of owning a business. But the reality is that becoming fiscally savvy will make your business less stressful and help you establish a better financial foundation — something that will benefit you now and into your retirement years.

If you’re wondering how to strengthen your financial footing, then this 90-minute webinar is for you. It's geared toward editors at all stages of their careers who haven't set up financial processes for their businesses or have realized that the financial processes they're using aren't sufficient. It will also be helpful if you haven't started saving for retirement or aren't doing so currently.

We'll go over how to create and stick to a budget, how to manage cash flow, how to approach bookkeeping, and which retirement savings options are good choices for freelancers. You’ll leave the session with information you can apply immediately to becoming more financially confident and secure.

Suzy Bills (she/her) is an editor, author, and former faculty member in the editing and publishing program at Brigham Young University. She’s owned a writing and editing business since 2006, working with individuals and companies to publish everything from books to dissertations, video scripts, technical manuals, and marketing materials. She loves sharing her skills with others, whether through teaching, mentoring, helping authors get their thoughts on paper, or fine-tuning their writing. Her book The Freelance Editor’s Handbook was published in 2021 by the University of California Press.
