    Important Information About Our Intensives
All class times are in Eastern Time. More information about our courses and webinars is available here. Approximately one week after the intensive takes place, everyone who registered will receive access to the recording on our education site. That site has different login information from the main EFA site. Please check your email one week after the intensive for information on how to access the recording. Recordings are only available to pre-registered students, and are never sold. Registration is limited to 60 students. As a freelancer, you may lack the institutional support that protects traditional employees, leaving you more vulnerable to subtle forms of discrimination and bias — often referred to as microaggressions. These can show up in client conversations, collaborative meetings, or hiring practices, and while they may seem small, their cumulative impact can erode confidence, professionalism, and mental well-being.  This two-day interactive course is designed to help freelancers of all backgrounds identify and respond to microaggressions in professional settings — particularly those that occur when working with clients, colleagues, and creative collaborators. Through a blend of self-reflection and scenario-based learning, you'll learn how to maintain psychological safety, set boundaries, and advocate for inclusive working relationships with clients, collaborators, and peers.  By the end of the course, you will be able to:
Recognize the different forms of microaggressions and how they uniquely impact freelancers Develop language and communication tools to address incidents in the moment or through follow-up Identify and establish boundaries that protect your values, identity, and professional integrity Create a personal response toolkit, including scripts, contracts, and disengagement strategies when needed  This small, focused class will feature plenty of interaction with the instructor and other students.
