Welcome and Introductions

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the LGBTQ+ Affinity Group! I'm so excited to be spearheading this group, and I'm eager to get to know you all. Please feel free to introduce yourself below and connect with your fellow members!

My name is Ley (pronounced "Lee") and I'm a fiction editor and writing coach based in the PNW. I specialize in developmental editing for SFF, romance, and horror, though I occasionally dip into other genres when a story (or a need to pay the bills) grabs ahold of me. I'm a huge genre fiction nerd in my personal life, so it's been great learning how to carve out my niche and get more involved in the kind of stories I loved growing up.

Nice to meet you!

Hello! Thank you, Ley, for heading this group. I'm happy to be a part of it and would like to help in any way possible.

I live in Colorado and work as a para at a local school to help support my copyediting business. I edit fiction and nonfiction, mainly focusing on developmental editing, copyediting, and line editing. I enjoy reading mysteries, thrillers, and historical fiction the most. As for editing, I think I'd edit just about anything, mainly because I love when an author is successful.

I look forward to getting to know everyone here!

Hello! I've primarily edited for indie authors (queer romance, crime, and historical fiction) over the past four years, and just last week I passed the copyediting test for Sourcebooks. I'm looking forward to seeing a new side of the publishing world! Copy and developmental editing keep me busy, and I also offer manuscript evaluations and author coaching.I'm currently studying all things memoir and will be adding this as a service later in the year. My background is in education (10+ years), and I've volunteered with the LGBTQ+ Editors Association as the membership coordinator for two years. I recently took on the Treasurer role (fundraising!) and joined the board. You're welcome to reach out for more info on joining us also!https://lgbtqeditors.org/Email us at Info@LGBTQEditors.org to join and get involved, to collaborate, or to share events and job opportunities with our membership.Great to be in touch!

Hi, I'm Asher (they/them). I'm the director of education for the EFA. I've been an editor and a queer activist since the 1990s, and have done a little bit of everything on both fronts. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hi,

Thanks for doing this! I'm a nonfiction editor who has been a journalist for 15/16 of my life. I'm now focusing on doing copy editing for organizations.

Originally from Brooklyn, I now live in Toronto.

Excited to be joining this group. I'm Mark, a freelance writer and editor. I've been mostly in the news/arts & culture world for a while and hope to get my foot in the door with dev and line editing fiction and memoir.

Hi!

My name's Sam (they/them) and I am a freelance editor outside of my 9-5. I focus mostly on LGBTQ+ fiction, fantasy, horror, and romance but I've worked with a lot of nonfiction and academic work as well. I'm hoping to really start to build up my portfolio and manage my time between my 9-5 and my editorial work a bit better!

Hi everyone, my name is Natalia. I'm mostly a developmental editor and writing coach for academics, or CNF focused on the visual arts and film. Thank you for starting the discussion.
