Williams Editorial (CrazedNovelist.com).  ► Gather a team / create a network of professionals.  ► Don't undercut yourself or work for free.  ► Don't let editing be your only source of income, diversify your income streams.  ► Network like an extrovert, even if you aren't one.  ► Establish efficient systems, processes, policies (if you were hospitalized tomorrow, what would happen to your clients?) ► Have clear contracts.  ► Do good work to build a good reputation ► Be open to finding clients everywhere (Facebook, Google, conferences, forums, etc.)  ► Don't be afraid to spend money (custom email account, popular payment processors, custom domain for your website, etc.).  ► Be professional in all interactions with other professionals and potential clients.  ► Get clients on retainer.  ► Diversify your client base.  ► Give back to the editorial community by volunteer and bringing on interns.
