If youre working on a creative nonfiction book or a novel, I would love to help you polish your writing and get it ready for publication.Services I offer to authors include developmental editing, stylistic editing, line editing, and copyediting. My professional training as an editor was earned from Simon Fraser University, where I completed my Editing Certificate Program in Fall 2022 (with a Spring 2023 graduation date). Here, I gained a solid practical and theoretical understanding of the process of editing nonfiction books and web publications. I have pursued training in fiction editing with the EFA.I also bring an MA in English Literature (with thesis) to the table. During my time in academia, I learned to refine my own writing and recognize qualities of effective prose literature; I developed strong written communication skills, laying the foundation for future editing work.As an editor, I am also drawing on years of experience in coaching students in writing university essays, both as a course instructor and as a teaching assistant. I discovered a love of helping others find their voice and bring their ideas to fruition in the written form.I have edited three self-published books (with several more manuscripts in the works), gaining practical experience in working with independent authors. My research and writing ability were also demonstrated through contracted writing for municipal government (an extensive art exhibition catalogue entitled Reflections of Gloucester). I have also proofread the French database of the Encyclopedia of Music in Canada (to remove conversion errors) for the National Library of Canada. When Im not editing with a latte in hand, I can be found walking amongst fields and forests in the beautiful natural surroundings of Ottawa, cooking new recipes, or searching out vintage, cottage-inspired clothes and dcor. Please feel free to contact me at glofcheskietanya@gmail.com to arrange a chat with me, or a free sample edit.
