  Lise Shapiro Sanders is Professor of English Literature and Cultural Studies at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. She teaches courses in nineteenth- and twentieth-century British literature, print media and periodical culture, fashion studies, film studies and early film history, feminist theory, women's history, and gender studies.As a freelance editor, Sanders works with clients seeking to publish scholarly, research-based non-fiction in a variety of contexts. She specializes in offering editorial support and structure for authors looking to publish their work in peer-reviewed journals and with academic publishers. Her services include goal-setting, assistance in establishing and maintaining a regular writing schedule, and developmental editing of articles, book proposals, chapters and manuscripts. She also offers line editing and copyediting services.Sanders received her B.A. in Literature from Hampshire College and her M.A. and Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago. She has advised masters and doctoral students at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and has supervised over 125 senior thesis projects. She serves on the board of directors of The Massachusetts Review and is a member of the Feminist Theory editorial collective.
