The EFA's Michigan Chapter hosts a Zoom meeting on the third Friday of each month for a virtual meetup from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Eastern.
Join us as chapter coordinator Lisa Gilliam presents a brief introduction on how Microsoft Word documents are imported into InDesign to begin book layout.
Lisa will show attendees why Word styles are so important to her workflow, how they function once the document is in InDesign, and why spending time making certain formatting elements look uniform in Word may not be worth the effort. She will also explain how page headers and footers are applied in InDesign and how that process is completely different from how they're applied in Word.
This session is intended not only for editors who have an interest in learning how to design books in InDesign but for editors who like the idea of becoming more appealing for designers to work with (because you'll know what types of styles might make their job easier) and editors who wish to save time during editing (because you can stop worrying about formatting things that designers will likely wipe clean anyway).
This virtual meeting will take place via the EFA’s chapter Zoom account.
