Editing isn't just a service, it's a relationship between you and your authors. This relationship's first date, so to speak, isn't when you sign a contract but when you turn in a sample edit. A sample edit is a great opportunity to show off your editing prowess, professionalism, and personal connection to a potential project. But how can you really show your full range of skills within such a small space? And when are you giving away too much for free?

This 90-minute webinar will cover the three pillars of launching the client relationship: a deep, empowered idea of your ideal client and project niche; sample edits tailored to each editing service's scope and objective; and proposals designed to educate, impress, and convert. It will also touch on how to assess manuscripts to create accurate quotes, how to sell your authentic value, and how to say no for the sake of growth. You'll learn how to approach the sample edit process for different editing services and the seasons of your business's feast or famine cycle, and pick up some surefire methods for presenting your sample edit alongside your project quote in a proposal your client can't refuse.
