I am a scientific technical editor with 40 years of experience (25+ at NASA) who has edited manuscripts in such diverse subjects as corrosion science; meteorology; oceanography (biological, physical, and chemical); viticulture; enology; remote sensing; atmospheric-, optical-, marine-, and oceanographic sensors; botany (all disciplines); HPLC analysis; calibration and validation; physics; computer science; flight dynamics; and engineering. Combining these scientific and technical disciplines with my degree in horticulture (encompassing plant science, plant pathology, biology, botany, and general agriculture), gives me an extremely broad subject matter base. I also edit nonscientific subjects (e.g., management, travel, and marketing materials; websites, etc.). I am a board certified editor in the life sciences (ELS) by the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS), have won numerous NASA awards for my edited documentation (the SeaWiFS Technical Report Series, Pre- and Post-launch), and was a guest editor for the American Chemical Society's Style Manual, 2nd Edition. I am a member of numerous professional organizations including the Council of Science Editors (CSE), Association of Earth Science Editors (AESE), American Geosciences Institute (AGI), Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA, founder and past-president of the Maryland chapter), and the Botanical Society of America (BSA). In addition, I have edited numerous books published by the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP, formerly NACE International) involving developmental and substantive editing, project management, and proofreading; and do substantive editing for BSAs American Journal of Botany (evolutionary-, reproductive-, systematics-, paleo-, and ecological botany) and journals from the American Society of Enology and Viticulture (ASEV); as well as horticulture, floriculture, plant science, and environmental sciences texts. Some of the documentation projects I have worked on previously include those for the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), various journals of the American Geophysical Union (AGU), American Meteorological Society (AMS), and the American Mathematical Society (AMS).
