I have been a full-time professional book editor for over five years. Before starting out on my own, I worked as a litigation paralegal and legal editor for 25 years.I have a MA in English from Louisiana State University and am an active member of and work closely with the Atlanta Writers Club. I have served as a Pre-Conference Editor for the Atlanta Writers Conference for the past four years. I have edited eight novels for a New York Times bestselling author as well as many other indie and traditionally published authors.I am a member of the Atlanta Writers Club, and I served as a pre-conference editor for their semi-annual conferences for the past four years. I have completed courses in editing, proofreading, and query letter and synopsis compilation.I strongly believe in two facets of editing. First, it is a collaborative process between editor and author. I do not simply correct errors with walls around my head. It is important to me to ensure that I understand and uphold the authors voice, and I align myself with the desired goals. While technical errors are certainly noted, the overall structure and flow of a story are equally considered. Second, editing is not a process that can be rushed or hurried. It requires great discipline and genuine care about the success of the manuscript.
