Thank you for visiting my profile! My names Alvaro Miranda, and I'm based out of Puerto Rico. I started copyediting as a profession in March 2024, but I've been proofreading on a volunteer basis since 2020. Aside from a copyediting certification from the University of California San Diego, I have a juris doctor from the University of Puerto Rico, as well as master's and bachelor's degrees in modern European history from Columbia University. Previous experience includes copyediting for the Museum With No Frontiers and proofreading for the Marxists Internet Archive. Additionally, if you've read any recent copies of the EFAs own newsletter, The Freelancer, there's a good chance I helped proofread it! I specialize in history, international affairs, political science, and current events, and I can tackle related topics too. As for materials, I particularly enjoy working on shorter content: blogs, essays, journals, magazines, white papers, and the like. For now, I mainly work with the Chicago Manual of Style, but I'm familiarizing myself with AP style as well. As every project is unique, it is impossible to give a one-size-fits-all rate. Rather, I prefer to offer a range. My rates generally fall within the EFAs polled rates: https://www.the-efa.org/rates/
