October 2025: This month I'm working on a science fiction manuscript/screenplay evaluation, 2 manuscript evaluations, and have an ongoing coaching client. My books are open for late October and November, shoot me an email if you're interested in working together.

Hi, I'm Rachael! I'm a freelance editor based in Los Angeles. I specialize in developmental and line editing, but I'm happy to meet you wherever you are with your project.

About my work: Never had a developmental editor? No worries! As a developmental editor, I look at your work on a large scale and help find ways to improve the plot, character themes, and overall structure. When we're working on a developmental edit, we won't focus on spelling, grammar, or sentence-level edits. We're tackling the larger things first.

A line edit is a creative pass on the sentence level. I'll go through and improve elements like sentence structure and variation, language use, and whatever else you feel needs sprucing up. I'll always provide a sample before we work together, this is almost always the best way to see if I'm the right editor for you!

My clients write fiction, self-improvement books, memoirs, and more. Their experience level varies, but they all share one common denominator: they love to write and are serious about getting their work into the world. They want the best version of their work possible, and have come to trust that I'm dedicated to helping them get to that point. My clients know me to be adaptable to their vision, a clear communicator, and easy to work with.

Along with developmental & line editing, I also provide:

Proofreading
Beta Reading
Manuscript Evaluations

Don't hesitate to reach out, I'm happy to look at up to 5 pages of your work at no cost to see if we're a good fit, no matter what part of the writing process your book is in.

About me: I love editing. Like, really love it. I've found that after eight years of working in film and television as a producer and writer, this is my thing. I have a degree in English and Screenwriting from Loyola Marymount University. I love working with writers. I am one myself. I write contemporary fiction and dabble in short stories, but I get loads of joy from helping others achieve their vision. I'm adaptable, easy to work with, and straightforward. Do you need softer feedback? No problem. You can handle the truth? I can give it to you. Mostly, I want to help you make your writing the best it can be. I won't stop until we have something you're proud of. I'm currently based in Los Angeles, but I popped out in Alaska a while back and have also lived in Oregon and Colorado. I love the mountains, fresh air, and my dog Paloma (not named after the drink).
