I am an independent editor with twenty years of experience in children's publishing.

I offer editorial and creative guidance to authors of picture books through YA novels, from big-picture story development to detailed line edits. I love words, characters, and stories -- and I love working with writers to help shape and polish their manuscripts.

As a senior editor at Knopf Books for Young Readers/Random House Children's Books, I acquired and edited picture books, middle-grade, and YA novels. I worked with bestselling and award-winning authors including Jennifer Niven, Cath Crowley, Amy Timberlake, Jean Reagan, and Il Sung Na. The books I edited in my years at Knopf garnered over 50 starred reviews and included New York Times bestsellers, Caldecott and Newbery Honor Books, Edgar Award winners, a New York Times Best Illustrated Book, ALA Notables, and YALSA BFYAs.

I am also the author of the picture books BEAR IN THE AIR (illustrated by Cat Min), RUBY AND THE ITSY-BITSY ICKY BUG (illustrated by Sally Walker), OLIVER'S LOLLIPOP (illustrated by Andres Landazabal), and ROSIE SPROUT'S TIME TO SHINE (illustrated by Patrice Barton), as well as the I LOVE SCIENCE board book series with illustrator Steve Mack.

I offer critiques, developmental/substantive editing, line editing, and query letter feedback. Please be in touch to learn more about my services!
