I'm a homeschool mom of eight, three of which have graduated and moved on to adult life. I love to read, write, and create abstract drawings and paintings.
Many years ago, I worked as a proofreader and typesetter for our local newspaper and enjoyed my job there. Unfortunately, the position didn't pay well enough to support myself, and I had to move on. Life changed and I became a wife and mother, then a blogger and service-based business owner.
A year ago, I was reading a book by an indie author I met on TikTok. When he asked what I thought of the book, I told him it was a great story, but there were several errors that needed correction throughout the text. (He'd had his story edited three times before publishing.) He asked me to email him the errors and my editing career began.
Through that experience, I realized many of the aspects of editing and proofreading came naturally to me. However, to improve my skills, I took editing and proofreading classes, and earned two certificates. I'm currently taking other writing classes through BBC Maestro and the Writing Mastery Academy to help better my own writing, and my skills for those who choose me to edit or proofread their work.
