We're beyond excited to launch a new type of EFA course: two-day intensives! These live classes combine lectures, group conversation and activities, and real-time feedback from the instructor and fellow students. Small class sizes provide plenty of opportunity for hands-on instruction and getting to know your classmates, and the minimal time commitment and modest price make them a fit for any freelancer's calendar and budget.

The first intensive on our fall calendar is Autumn A. Arnett's Navigating Microaggressions as a Freelancer (October 2 and 3). Through a blend of self-reflection and scenario-based learning, you'll learn how to maintain psychological safety, set boundaries, and advocate for inclusive working relationships with clients, collaborators, and peers. Enrollment is limited, so don't wait — register today!

Whether you want to study at your own pace or learn with an instructor's direct feedback, the EFA's education program has everything you need to broaden your skill set and client base. As always, our library of recorded webinars is available for immediate viewing, so be sure to check it out for dozens of helpful sessions.

EFA members get 20% off all our courses, and get many webinars for free. Not a member? Join today.

"Ad copy and corporate marketing materials provide a wealth of opportunities for a keen-eyed proofreader." —Sharon McInnis, instructor

Proofreading for Businesses and Ad Agencies
Course begins August 27.

This five-week course will give you everything you need to launch your corporate proofreading career or add to your existing editing business. We’ll cover what skills a corporate proofreader needs, how to get (or sharpen) those skills, what equipment and tools are needed, and much more.

Our students say...

Sharon is gifted at teaching!! Her vast experience is evident. It was awesome to get a glimpse of it through this course. At the end of Week 1, I already felt like I’d received my money’s worth. —J.K.

I enjoyed the practical exercises and the checklists. The Acrobat markup lesson was very good, and I liked how Sharon used the same document to compare marking up the same changes with annotation tools vs. drawing tools. —A.S.

Our students say...

Val is an excellent teacher. Her curriculum is challenging, engaging, and valuable. —A.C.

Val really made this course spectacular for me. She is so enthusiastic and embodies everything I want to be as an editor. On top of that, it is immediately clear that she knows what she's talking about, but she's also incredibly humble. Her feedback is invaluable and her support throughout the courses is heartwarming. I couldn't have asked for a better instructor or a better person to introduce me to developmental editing and guide me through all three courses. —E.K.
