AT A GLANCE - Substantive and copyediting - Proofreading - Research and fact checking Professional services for trade and reference publishers; university presses and libraries; and museums. Bibliographies are my specialty. Grant proposals and scholarly papers welcome. Client list and references available on request.
BACKGROUND I spent many years in publishing as production editor, proofreader, copy editor, assistant editor, and finally manager of electronic resources, developing MagillOnLiterature, MagillOnScience, and MagillOnHistory--compiling thousands of scholarly articles on ancient, medieval, Renaissance, early modern, modern, and contemporary works and lives into searchable databases--which became core modules for EBSCO's library reference centers. I returned to copyediting full time as a freelancer in 2012 and currently specialize in university journal articles and museum materials.
SOME RECENT WORK Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History Bulletin Natural History Museums of Los Angeles labels/didactics for NHM and La Brea Tar Pits exhibits and shows MIT Press science journals (including Neurobiology of Language and Artificial Life), sociology (European Societies), and the arts (Grey Room) University of Texas at Arlington libraries working with faculty bibliographies, prize-winning academic papers, and student-driven journals.
INTERESTS My available waking hours are spent reading and studying, especially medieval and early modern literature and juicy nineteenth century novels; working in my fire-resistant vegetable garden; and herding cats, dogs, and horses. I also enjoy flying in airplanes, my daughters' gossip, and handing my husband his next hardboiled detective story.
