I'm an editor, poet, and former academic who loves being part of the process of helping people communicate their vision and get their words out into the world. I provide a range of services. I've copyedited and proofread 25+ poetry and memoir titles for small presses. Creative writers tend to like to work with me because I am respectful of their voice, tone, and artistic choices when offering suggestions about clarity, consistency, and correctness. With both poetry and memoir, I have the experience and training to offer more substantive craft suggestions, if desired. Drawing on my experiences as a tenured academic who has sat on and chaired search committees, I edit a range of academic materials from application letters and CVs to scholarly articles, monographs, and dissertations in a variety of fields with various style guides. In particular, I have edited the scholarly work of many international academics who needed help with the English language. I have also coached dissertating writers. I've been blessed lately to work closely with independent writers of mind-body-spirit books, using my skills to help them create books that are purposeful, focused, and satisfying. From my experience as a senior technical editor at an environmental nonprofit, I also have skills in technical editing, specifically in environmental and water resources engineering.
