I'm a manuscript midwife who helps people turn ideas and text into books and articles. As a writer myself, I understand that your project is your baby. So I provide a variety of editorial services to help you deliver a top-notch product: proofreading, copy editing, line editing, developmental editing, beta reading, fact-checking, and ghostwriting.
A bit of background: After earning a B.A. in English from Bard College, I spent my early career at Prentice-Hall, first as a textbook acquisitions assistant and then as a trade book copywriter. Since 1984, I've been a freelance editor for publishers including St. Martin's Press and SheWrites Press, polishing countless fiction and nonfiction manuscripts in all genres. I've also collaborated extensively with individuals, from emerging writers and academic scholars to bestselling authors such as Gene Stone, Tim Sanders, and Arianna Huffington. In addition, my stints as a magazine editor for The Nation, Biography Magazine, MadinAmerica.com, and several nonprofits have honed my skills in editing news and feature articles, long-form investigative journalism, and personal essays.
Favorite subjects: environmental issues (especially climate change), personal and public health, mass media.
