I am a developmental and content editor with 2 years of experience in general nonfiction and fiction editing. I also have twenty years of college teaching and experience in academic publishing. The latter includes the writing of peer-reviewed articles and a textbook (The Routledge Guidebook to Paine’s Rights of Man) and the performance of peer and book reviews for scholarly journals and publishers.
During my two years as a revisions editor at a hybrid publisher, I helped produce 20 books, of which 9 won awards, including prestigious ones such as the Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY) , the Independent Book Publishers Association award, the Next Generation Indie Book Award, IAN Book of the Year Award, the Golden Door Silver Medal; and the PenCraft Best Book Award. Five books won multiple awards.
As a developmental and content editor, I’m skilled at showing writers of all levels how to structure their books and individual chapters. I show them how to construct and develop arguments while suggesting areas of additional research or examples. I also polish their prose, correcting grammar and syntax while improving their style.
Not least, I excel at supporting writers of all different levels and professions, including an adolescent novelist, a superintendent, a cardiologist, a former chair of Veteran Affairs, a mayor, a project manager, and many more.
