As an editor of scholarly nonfiction, I work with academic authors, independent researchers, and university presses to prepare book and journal article manuscripts for publication. I provide a range of editorial services: --copyediting and line editing --structural editing --proofreading --fact-checking --citation and references formatting (Chicago and APA style) --manuscript formatting (Microsoft Word) --project management for multiauthor books or edited collections
With a graduate degree in interdisciplinary studies, I am comfortable collaborating with authors across a range of fields in the humanities and social sciences. Topics of special interest include literary, social, and cultural theory; history; LGBTQ+ studies; feminist philosophy; studies of interdisciplinarity; social justice. However, I am open to any nonfiction subjects and genres. I also have experience writing on women's health and editing medical research articles and marketing materials.
My editorial training includes a certificate in editing from the University of Chicago, along with classes in stylistic and developmental editing from the Editorial Freelancers Association, the Editorial Arts Academy, and Laura Portwood-Stacer's Manuscript Works.
I am an active member of Editorial Freelancers Association, where I serve on the leadership team of the Academic Editing Chapter and chair the chapter's education committee. I'm also a member of the LGBTQ+ Editors Association and participate frequently in professional development activities sponsored by ACES: The Society for Editing, the Editors Tea Club, and the Northwest Editors Guild.
